Hi,

Are there any news about Ubuntu on this computer? If so, I'd really like to know so we can update the information here. I must regretably say that i don't have this computer anymore so i cannot help with this, but if there are any improvements/downsides with this computer and the new Ubuntu versions, I'd like to enlighten the people!

When i first installed Ubuntu, the graphics were hurting my eyes.
It was all disformed and corny.
To fix this, I opened up a terminal, and entered:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

This starts a script that configures your xserver.

Just follow the steps, select the vesa driver, and when you come to selecting resolution,
make sure you check off the 1280x800 setting.

Just follow all the steps till the end, just selecting the default ones.

Reboot

Should look much better now

Ok time to get you connected to that WPA secured wlan

Step one:

Get the wpasupplicant package from the repo if it's not already installed:
sudo apt-get install wpasupplicant

Step two:

Create a file named wpa.conf or something (doesn't matter what you call it really)
Paste this into the file:

ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
network={
ssid="myssid"
psk="mysecret"
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
proto=WPA
}

First step:
Make sure you have Ndiswrapper installed.
If you don't, open a terminal and enter:

sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-common ndiswrapper-utils-1.9

That should take care of getting ndiswrapper.

Step two:

Get the drivers.
Go to http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com,
then "Download Drivers",
find the Amilo la 1703,
then go to Wlan.

Get the Windows XP drivers
Downloaded the drivers, and unzip them to where ever you want.
